For example, you can select "Middle Left" stapling even when you are using A3. As you cannot staple on the long edge of the A3, your job will not be stapled. However, the job will get printed. - When you designate the paper size in the page setting, the paper size such as A4 or Letter may not be displayed and "Others" may be displayed. In this case, the setting cannot be returned to "Others" if the size is changed to another one by clicking "OK". Or you can do this by designating another "Format for". - After a printer is added by "Desktop Printer Utility" and printing is performed without changing the installable options or printing setup, printing cannot be done in a designated paper size in the "Page Setup". - When printing the Adobe PageMaker file, Department Code is not acceptable. - When printing an Adobe PageMaker file with a Watermark, make all applicable Watermark settings: Watermark Text, Watermark Text Size, Watermark Text Angle, Watermark Gray Level, Watermark Font, Watermark Position, and Watermark Outline. An error will result if "Printer's default" is selected for these Watermark settings. - For using the Cover function on Macintosh OS-9, use AppleTalk connection. OS-X: - All stapling options are displayed even though some are unavailable. For example, you can select "Portrait A4 Left Hand Side" stapling even when you are using A3. As you cannot staple on the long edge of the A3, your job will not be stapled. However, the job will get printed. - When the print is executed on Mac OS-X 10.2, the function set may be reduced from the printer functions or the set items may be deleted. Since this is an OS problem, you would need to re-start the OS to correct it. - When using Macintosh and perform printing from an Adobe Acrobat PPD file on a paper of which size is other than Letter or A4 and the paper source to be used is specified, printing may be performed on Letter or A4 size paper fed from the Bypass Feeder. When printing on a paper other than Letter or A4, set the paper source to Auto. - Setting control of Destination and Stapling/Hole Punch do not work correctly due to a problem in the printing function of Mac OS-X 10.2.*. Therefore, Inner Tray and Stapling/Hole Punch can be set up at the same time. Paper will be output to Inner Tray and Stapling/Hole Punch cannot be performed. When handling Stapling/Hole Punch, please set Tray 1 or Tray 2 as your Destination. - When you designate the paper size in the page setting, the paper size such as A4 or Letter may not be displayed and "Others" may be displayed. In this case, the setting cannot be returned to "Others" if the size is changed to another one by clicking "OK". Or you can do this by designating another "Format for". - When saving printer Presets on Mac OS-X 10.2, the setup is not saved unless preview or printing is executed. Even if two or more Presets were saved, the last setup saved with Printer Features is only available. 3. Unix/Linux Filter - All stapling options are displayed even though some are unavailable. For example, you can select "Portrait A4 Left Hand Side" stapling even when you are using A3. As you cannot staple on the long edge of A3, your job will not be stapled. However the job will get printed. 4. Banner Page - Banner page will be output onto a tray that had been designated in RAW Jobs - Default Output Tray in Printer Utility. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Print -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Issues ====== 1. Some documents may cause print-assigned memory to become insufficient to print. 2. When an error sheet is printed, subsequent print jobs may not be printed properly. In this case, turn the MFP off then on. 3. When Letter Tab or A4 Tab is specified for Drawer by clicking on the Configuration tab, "AutoSelect" can be selected for tab paper. However, even though "AutoSelect" is selected, tab paper is fed from the Bypass Feeder. When you desire to feed tab paper from the drawer, select "Drawer" for tab paper. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Document Monitor Version 3.5.82.2 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Issues ====== 1. Configure by referring to the following configuration or the application manual. 1. The imaging application for Windows NT does not support capturing through TWAIN. 2. The imaging application for other Windows OS does not support multiple-paged originals with mixed colors or sizes. 3. TextBridge/OmniPage Configure the following in the "Scanner setup wizard": 1. Select "Show TWAIN Interface" in the "Advanced" configuration. 2. Store one-paged original in the e-Filing box before testing the scanner. 4. Readiris Configure the following in the "OCR wizard": 1. Select "Scanner" to proceed. 2. Select "" on the "Type" dialog. 3. Select the "Configure" button on the "Scanner" dialog. 4. Select a driver on the "Select Source" dialog. 5. Applications such as Acrobat do not support capturing through TWAIN; depending on colors, paper sizes, or several originals with mixed resolutions. To capture an image using such applications, capture each page individually or use the FileDownloader to save the same document first. Then open it from applications such as TIFF/PDF. Issues ====== 1. Accessing performance may decline when the e-Filing Box has many documents. We recommend you to decrease the number of documents by separating folders or boxes. 2. Performance of deleting pages from a document may decline when that document contains a large number of pages. 3. Retrieving a color image will require huge memory. Performance may decline or imaging may end in failure when imaging is performed with low memory. Necessary space of memory for color image is approx. 100 MB for A4/LT or 200 MB for A3/LD in 600dpi. The recommended memory size for the client PC is 256 MB or more to retrieve A4/LT pages, or 512 MB or more to retrieve A3/LD pages. 4. On Windows Vista, please do not select "Desktop" at the top in the dialog box while saving an e-Filing document on the desktop in a user's computer. You can save the e-Filing document on the desktop in a user's computer if the following path is selected "Desktop"->"User's computer name"->"Desktop." Troubleshooting =============== 1. Cannot Find the MFP (TWAIN/FileDownloader) [Problem Description] Cannot find the MFP even when the Local Discovery or Network Discovery feature is used. [Corrective Action] Confirm the following: - The MFP and your PC are correctly connected to the TCP/IP network. - The default gateway setting is correctly set up if the MFP is connected to a different subnet. [NOTE] - The TWAIN Driver and FileDownloader do not support the ipc1-im8130 controller. These controllers cannot be found by the Local Discovery function. 2. Cannot Connect to the MFP Found by the Local Discovery (TWAIN/FileDownloader) [Problem Description] The Local Discovery finds the MFP, but you cannot connect to it. [Corrective Action] 1. Make sure Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or later is installed. 2. Make sure the Proxy settings on the Microsoft Internet Explorer have been made correctly so that your PC can connect to the MFP. 3. Make sure Microsoft Internet Explorer is not in the off-line mode. If it is in off-line mode, change it to the on-line mode. [NOTE] - Connection to the MFP may fail when too many PCs connect to the MFP at the same time. - Please try to connect to the MFP again later. 3. Cannot Acquire Document (TWAIN) [Problem Description] Cannot acquire a document using the TWAIN Driver. [Corrective Action] The TWAIN Driver has been carefully tested with several TWAIN-compliant applications. However, some applications may require settings to connect to the TWAIN driver, or some applications that have not been tested cannot connect to the MFP. See the Readme file for the required settings in applications that have been tested. Also, an application that has not been tested may operate by enabling the Native UI of the TWAIN Driver or changing the Data Transfer Mode. For more details about TWAIN settings on your application, see the user manual for your application. 4. Image Corrupts When Acquiring Color Mixed Document (TWAIN) [Problem Description] An image will become corrupted when capturing the document that contains both color pages and black and white pages, using the TWAIN driver. [Corrective Action] Capturing a color and black/white mixed document is not supported by some applications. In that case, capture the color pages and black and white pages separately or store the document as a file using the FileDownloader. 5. Saved as Single Page Files Even Though You Select Multi Page TIFF Format (File Downloader) [Problem Description] When storing a document in a Multi-page TIFF format using the File Downloader, the document is stored in single-page. [Corrective Action] The FileDownloader cannot save the color and black/white mixed document as a multi page TIFF file. In that case, the FileDownloader saves the document as single page files. In this case, a color document is stored in JPEG format. If you want to save the document as one file, save it as a PDF file. 6. Cannot Open TIFF File Saved Using FileDownloader (FileDownloader) [Problem Description] Cannot open the TIFF file that has been saved using the FileDownloader. [Corrective Action] When you select a TIFF format to save the color/grayscale document using the FileDownloader, the document will be saved as TIFF file with JPEG compression. You cannot open the file using an application that does not support the TIFF file with JPEG compression. In that case, save the document as a JPEG file or use the TWAIN driver to capture the document. 7. Cannot Change Resolution by Shrink To Half (TWAIN/FileDownloader) [Problem Description] Even though you enable the Shrink to Half function, the resolution of an image that was acquired is not changed. [Corrective Action] The Shrink to Half function is available only for 600x600dpi documents that are stored in e-Filing by copy and print operations. This function cannot reduce the resolution of the image that is saved by scan and fax operation. You can change the resolution of the image in the filing box, by faxing or scanning it again at your desired resolution and storing it in the filing box, or by changing the resolution in the application. 8. Cannot Acquire Multi-Paged Document (TWAIN) [Problem Description] Cannot acquire a multi-paged document from an application. [Corrective Action] Some applications do not support multi page scan from TWAIN interface or need to be configured to acquire multi-paged documents. See the user documentation for the application that you use. 9. Refresh Button Keeps Returning Error (TWAIN/FileDownloader) [Problem Description] Refresh action does not reconnect to MFP and keeps returning error. [Corrective Action] This behavior is caused by mismatch between the MFP status and the driver internal status. To solve this problem, please select the MFP again by selecting "Box Select"->"Select Oce" or restart the driver. 10. Cannot Connect to the Device (TWAIN/FileDownloader) [Problem Description] When you start TWAIN driver of FileDownloader installed in the WindowsMe, an error message, "Connection to MFP has aborted", displays and you cannot connect to the Device. [Corrective Action] When you are using the WindowsMe and if the TCP/IP network default gateway is not set, you may fail connecting in the network. Set the default gateway by using the network-setting tool in the control panel. 11. Cannot acquire Document when a message "Error In Getting The Page Data" appears (TWAIN/FileDownloader) [Problem Description] During acquiring a document using the TWAIN Driver or FileDownloader, a message "Error In Getting The Page Data" appears, and you cannot acquire the document. [Corrective Action] The MFP is in a busy state or the inconsistency occurs in the internal state. Take some time before you retrieve a document again. If you still cannot retrieve the document, reboot the MFP. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AddressBook Viewer Version 3.5.84.0 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Issues ====== 1.
